Hi, I’m Kate!  As many of you know, I have been a Fitness Trainer and Nutrition Coach for the past 13 years.  I felt like I was doing so many things right on my health journey, but had no idea that all of the products I was lathering on my face and body everyday contained toxic ingredients!  In addition, some of these chemicals can get absorbed into our bloodstream.  Cleaning up my skincare and makeup has really been the last piece of my healthy lifestyle puzzle.

I am sure most of you, like myself assume that we live in a highly regulated country, so the products I am using must be safe. I honestly, never questioned safety at all until recent years. I was so surprised when I finally learned that when it comes to the personal care industry, there are very minimal regulations. 

Companies are allowed to use known toxins—ingredients that have been linked to cancer, reproductive issues, and hormone disruption—without even disclosing these ingredients to us! Seems crazy, right?  Personally this makes me mad!

Luckily, it's not all doom and gloom. There are some great companies working hard to create safer skincare products and to change the industry. And, these products work just as well or better than the department store brands we have learned to love!  I've been spending tons of time researching them.

Researchers at UC Berkeley’s School of Public Health published a study in 2013 that detected lead, cadmium, chromium, aluminum and five other metals in many popular brands of lipsticks and lip glosses commonly found in drugstores and department stores. The study also noted that children are especially susceptible to heavy metal accumulation and should not play with make up. Think of all the young girls that apply make-up daily or even multiple times a day?
 

Decades of studies indicate that serious health issues (including, but not limited to asthma, learning disabilities, cancer and infertility) are on the rise, and due in some part to our ongoing exposure to toxic chemicals—whether it's in the shower, on our commute, while we eat lunch at a local restaurant, or when we clean our kitchens at home.

What's worse is the Food and Drug Administration (the agency that regulates cosmetics) allows companies to use chemicals known to be extremely harmful (lead, formaldehyde, and phthalates) in the products we put on our bodies and on our kids every single day, day after day.

Overnight Resurfacing Peel

This is the PM product to the All Bright C Serum. It’s 15 fruit acids that exfoliate your skin while you sleep! It sloughs off dead skin to reveal glowing skin in the morning. Exfoliated skin allows your products to work better so you get better results! This is a must to go with the All Bright C Serum!

Dew Skin

This is my must have makeup item if I had to choose just one.  I use it daily.  It is a lightly tinted moisturizer with SPF 20.  It has hyaluronic in it, so it moisturizes so well.  It provides a bit of color for when you don’t want full coverage.

Skin Twin

I use this full coverage foundation almost daily.  It provides so much moisture from the serum levels of hyaluronic in it and lasts all day long!  It feels light weight and the color is perfect.  You can put this over the Dew Skin for fuller coverage or under it for a more dewy look.

Caramel Cream Blusher

I had no idea what a cream blusher was until now!  I am hooked on cream versus powder!  It is so easy to rub into the apple of the cheeks or use a blush brush.  I use this to highlight my cheek bones. It also doubles as a lipstick!!  Hibiscus and Caramel are my must have colors!!!
